REQUEST FOR ARGUMENTS
“FOR” OR “AGAINST” THE SPECIAL BUDGET OVERRIDE ELECTION
TANQUE VERDE UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 13
Tanque Verde Unified School District No. 13 of Pima County, Arizona (the “District”), will hold a special 15% maintenance and operation budget override election on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. The total 15% budget override amount for the first year of the proposed continuation is estimated to be $2,378,902 and would be funded in that year by an estimated $0.88 tax rate per one hundred dollars of net assessed valuation used for secondary property tax purposes which is approximately equal to the current secondary tax rate for the existing budget override. The Pima County School Superintendent will be preparing an informational pamphlet that will be mailed to households containing one or more registered electors within the District. Any persons wishing to submit an argument “for” or “against” the proposed 15% budget override (not to exceed 200 words) may do so by mail or hand delivery of the argument to the Pima County School Superintendent’s office, 200 N. Stone Avenue, Tucson, AZ 85701; telephone: (520) 724-8451.
To be included in the informational pamphlet, such argument must be received in the office of the Pima County School Superintendent on or before 5:00 p.m., August 7, 2026. Such argument must be signed and include the name of the District, the author’s name, the name of any entity submitting an argument, address and telephone number. If the argument is submitted by an organization, it shall contain the sworn statement of two executive officers of the organization. If the argument is submitted by a political committee, it shall contain the sworn statement of the committee's chairperson or treasurer. If the argument is submitted by an individual and not on behalf of an organization, a political committee or any other group, the person shall submit the argument with a sworn, notarized statement. The entity and author’s name will be printed in the informational pamphlet. DISTRITO ESCOLAR UNIFICADO NÚM. 13 DE TANQUE VERDE
El Distrito Escolar Unificado Núm. 13 de Tanque Verde del Condado de Pima, Arizona (el “Distrito”), celebrará una elección especial para el aumento de un 15% al presupuesto de mantenimiento y operaciones el martes 3 de noviembre de 2026. El importe total de un 15% de aumento al presupuesto para el primer año de la continuación propuesta se estima que será de $2,378,902 y sería financiado durante ese año por una tasa de impuestos estimada de $0.88 por cien dólares de la valoración tasada neta que se utiliza para propósitos de impuestos secundarios sobre la propiedad, que aproximadamente es un monto igual a la tasa de impuestos secundaria actual para el aumento al presupuesto existente. El Superintendente de Escuelas del Condado de Pima preparará un folleto informativo que se enviará por correo a los hogares que cuenten con uno o más electores registrados dentro del Distrito. Textbook Adoption
In compliance with policy 5-207 Curriculum Adoption and ARS 15-721, textbooks will be placed on display, either physically in the District or school offices or digital copies available online, for a period of at least sixty (60) days prior to the meeting at which the Board will consider their adoption. At the end of the public review process, the district will bring a book back to the board for approval along with any feedback received during the review window.
At the time the district proposes any new adoption of curriculum materials, it is required for the the board to approve a 60-day period for public review and comment.
On March 25, 2026, Tanque Verde Unified District submitted the curriculum and textbooks for K-6th Elementary Social Studies Standards for an adoption review to begin on March 26, 2026 through May 24, 2026.

Notice of Preschool Disabilities Screening
On a periodic basis, personnel from the school district conduct a preschool screening at Tanque Verde Elementary School, 2600 N. Fennimore Ave., Tucson, AZ 85749 for children from birth through five years of age. The screening will be held on an appointment basis and a limited number of reservations will be made for each screening date.
The district will provide direct screening services for children who reside within its attendance boundaries. Verification of district residency will be required.
Specifically, screening assistance will be provided in those areas which may require the child to receive special education services. The areas screened will be vision, hearing, cognitive abilities, motor skills, speech and language, as well as social and self-help skills. We especially encourage participation by children under 3, as every effort is made to provide any needed services by the third birthday.
If, after the screening, there is reason to suspect a possible disability, information will be provided on infant/toddler services or further evaluation by the school district for 3-5 year-olds.
Parents of 0-5 year-old children who would like more information or who would like to make a screening appointment are asked to contact Student Services, Tiffany Hodge, Director of Student Services.

Request For Public Records
Public's Right to Know / Freedom of Information
The office of the Superintendent will be open to receive requests for records during normal business hours on Monday through Friday. Requests for access to public records shall be directed to the Office of the Superintendent.
Notice of Methods Used to Dispose of District Assets
Pursuant to R7-2-1131, this District disposes of assets via Public Auctions, State Surplus and Online Sales via CraigsList, Tucson.
Visit Public Surplus, the surplus auction site for items no longer in use by the district.
Notice of Records Destruction - Special Education Records
Pursuant to ARS 41-1351 and the General Records Retention Schedule for School Districts and Charter Schools (#000-11-53) established by Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records (LAPR), (including placement records, referrals, evaluations, testing data and other related records) will be destroyed “four (4) years after fiscal year of final enrollment.”
The Tanque Verde Unified School District will begin the process of destroying Special Education Records (including placement records, referral, evaluation, testing data and other related records) for students whose final enrollment was on or before May 23, 2019, Date of birth is 2001, Class of 2019. This destruction will begin in June of 2024. If you would like to receive these records, please contact Chandler Hybiak at the Tanque Verde Unified School District Student Services office (520-749-5751, ext. 4202) no later than May 23, 2024.
